Master Gardener Training

The next Master Gardener training will start September 8th, 2010, and run each Wednesday evening 6:30 - 9:00 until December 8th. Class size is limited and priority is given to Niagara County residents. A one time fee of $250 covers classes and a Master Gardener Notebook. July 29 - Cornell Fruit Field Day
The triennial event, hosted by the NY State Agricultural Experiment Station, Geneva, NY, occurs in alternation with Western NY regional fruit tours. The program will include bus tours with educational stops to hear updates on cutting edge fruit research, a trade show, equipment demonstrations, and chicken barbecue lunch for attendees. Program information and registration materials will be forthcoming. Plan now to attend.

 August 14 & 21 - Master Beekeeper Apprentice Level Course
August 14 – 9 am – 6 pm, Dyce Lab, Cornell University
August 21 – 9 am – 6 pm, Betterbee, Greenwich, NY
The Cornell University Master Beekeeper Program will conduct its one-day Apprentice Level Fall Workshop twice this year.  This is a comprehensive course that picks up where the spring class left off.  It covers summer, fall and winter management; honey removal, extraction and processing; and IPM for honey bee pests, parasites, pathogens and predators.  New beekeepers and experienced beekeepers looking for a refresher course are encouraged to attend.  Class runs from 9am-6pm and includes 2-hours of field work. Cost is $85. A workshop manual and refreshments are provided.
Classes limited to 24.
