Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play

Creating Healthy Places
Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play is a five year project led by Cornell Cooperative Extension in Niagara County and funded by the NYS Department of Health. It was launched on April 1, 2011. The goal is to facilitate changes in Niagara Falls that will help to reduce the rates of chronic disease in the city. This project is an opportunity to work with community partners. To invest in our future by preventing obesity and diabetes and saving significantly on health care and societal costs.

We will look at creating partnerships with other groups and agencies in the city to work on issues such as creating access to healthy foods, increasing physical activity and improving streetscapes. An emphasis will be placed on working together to create sustainable strategies for improvement of chronic health issues within the city.
