HeatSmart NY

These workshops, conducted by Cornell Cooperative Extension as part of the Empower New York Program, are now a component of the HeatSmart NY initiative.  HeatSmart NY workshops are sponsored by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

These 2 hour workshops are free. Class size is limited so pre-registration is required.

Making End Meet (MEM)

This workshop provides an overview of the process for developing and using a household spending plan. We also explore ways to maximize resources and reduce energy use. Save Energy, Save Dollars (Energy)

Learn about low-cost and no-cost strategies easily implemented by homeowners or renters to save energy and reduce energy bills. Also learn about programs that can help you afford energy-efficiency improvements with subsidies, low-interest loans, or free services to qualifying households.  Participants will recieve a free energy kit, including weatherstripping, shrink window insulation, outlet and light switch gaskets, and more. Exploring Credit/Debt Management Issues (Credit)

Information on selecting and using credit wisely are shared at this workshop.  Also strategies for paying down debt, obtaining and reviewing a credit report, and understanding a credit score are presented.
